Tree Fella strives to use natural and eco-friendly solutions wherever possible. We recently used a natural alternative to combat an aphid infestation on a client’s trees. Aphids feed on the fluids of a tree, excreting a sap known as honeydew and spreading fungal diseases. The client requested that we used a chemical free, environmentally friendly solution to combat the infestation.
The answer was simple: ladybird larvae! Ladybirds aren’t just pleasant to look at, they are incredibly useful as well. They feed on garden pests such as aphids, helping to control their numbers within a totally natural ecosystem. By introducing the ladybird larvae into the nearby area we were very quickly able to reduce aphid numbers with visible improvements to the overall appearance of the trees.
